The traditional Muslim settlement better known as Thekkepuram has been in existence in the heart of the trade city Kozhikode for more than seven hundred years. With a uneque blend of Brahmin and Islamic cultures, Thekkepuram thrived on their own likes and dislikes unseen elsewhere in Kerala. Kuttichira, the large tank lying between two spectacular mosques belonging to typical Kerala architecture and had an unparallel role in the urban fabric of Thekkepuram. It was on such a gathering in the year 1956, by a group of youngsters mainly college students, sowed the seeds of an organization. They were enthusiastic in up lifting the citizens of the community intellectually, educationally, socially and culturally. Hence they called their organization CIESCO, and started the service from its intellectual part by commencing reading room and library for the public. Ever since its inception, CIESCO has been upholding the motto “Service to Mankind”, CIESCO is hardly any field of social service where it has not put its foot prints..
- Developing human resources through elimination of illiteracy, education, training and rehabilitation programs.
- Promoting the progress and welfare of poor communities through helping them to invest their resources in the best way possible to make them self-sufficient.
- CIESCO accepts all sorts of donations appropriate to its mission such as: alms, Zakat, bequests, waqf, designated or general donations.
- CIESCO invests the undesignated donations it received in long term projects to generate maximum returns in order to secure permanent resources for charities.
- Assisting in developing human resources of Thekkepuram communities through providing advanced professional and technical education and training.
- Providing the basics for the needy such as food, clothing, medicine, and shelter.
- Adopting scientific approach for fund raising , investment, and distribution of charities.
